Deadpool was absolutely true to the character. Felt like a comic book in novel form! #22 will be an older best seller from 2016, The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware.

#21 apparently combines two of my favorite things: Deadpool and dogs! I found this book back in January. It keeps getting passed over but now is the time. After a couple horror/thriller books, it is time for a little absurdity!

A comparison of print sizes between two books. The book on the left, Adventures in Cryptozoology, has very small print while the book on the right, The Dead Children's Playground, has print nearly twice the size. The photographer's fingers can be seen in the lower middle holding the pages down together.

This book cover reads James Kaine The Dead Children's Playground American Horrors. It is a YA horror book. The cover shows a young girl with long dark hair wearing a dress with a very dark blue lace top and gray skirt and sleeves. Her skin is extremely pale and her eyes are completely white. She is sitting on an old swing seat, holding onto the support chains. The full moon is directly behind her head. Behind her, the vague outlines of other running children can be seen through a foggy cemetery.

Adventures in Cryptozoloogy finished last night. It's a broad yet great introductory look at the field. Highly recommend even though it felt like it took me forever to read because tiny print and I need new glasses. ๐Ÿ˜… #16 will be easier on the eyes!

Book #13, Chaser, completed. Really neat look at the possibilities of canine cognition and language learning. Book #14 will be a bit lighter. A Wolf Called Wander is based on the true story of a wolf in the Pacific Northwest.

A book cover with a photograph of a border collie dog who is mostly white with a black nose and a black patch under her left ear sitting in front of a blackboard. She has an open mouth, a pleasant, curious expression, and is wearing a purple collar. The cover reads Chaser Unlocking the Genius of the Dog Who Knows a Thousand Words. The book is written by John W. Pilley with Hilary Hinzmann

Finished The Rule of Claw last night. Once again, I struggled with the characters' way of speaking. It makes sense for the story but it felt almost frantic. 3 stars. Just not for me.
On to some nonfiction about Chaser, the world's smartest dog (maysherestinpeace).

A stack of 10 used books, both hard covers and paperbacks.

Took the opportunity to go look for adaptable books today for February reading. Mostly, I found antique romance and YA titles. So there will be quite a few YA next month. Many of these will go to Little Free Libraries after I read them.

I had a bad day. I didn't feel like giving my attention to my grown up book so I pulled one purchased for reasons of nostalgia off the shelf. Book #9 ended up being Catwings. Today, a few days later, I finished A Peculiar Combination so that was book #10!

6+ inches of snow + a 5 cat pile up = book #8 finished in record time. I will absolutely pick up more from the series should I see them.

On to book #9! A Peculiar Combination by Ashley Weaver. Sounds like something I wouldn't usually read so let's go!

Nothing against the Mrs. Murphy mystery. It just wasn't for me. Kinda like The Second Husband. Decent storyline but I didn't connect with the characters and the shifting POV annoyed me. Not my style I guess. Book #8 will be Deadly Editions by Paige Shelton.

Finished book #5, The Second Husband, last night. It was okay. The story was decent but the style felt weird. It is mostly present tense which felt a bit clunky to me. Oh well.

On to book #6, It Devours!

Book #4, Gil's All Fright Diner, was finished last night. I had a little trouble with the disappearing reappearing country bum sort of speech given to the characters but all in all, a pretty fun read! Book #5 will be one I adopted yesterday, The Second Husband by Kate White.

I cannot be trusted. We all know that! The TBR pile has expanded thanks to a stop at Goodwill while running some errands. Deadpool is the only book I know I will enjoy. The other 4 are exploratory as I continue to figure out what I do and do not like.
