The scene is set in the 1950s on Halloween night and takes place in a neighborhood street. Sam, dressed as a cowboy, is crouched over in the street and poking at a dead bird with a stick while his pillowcase of candy is discarded beside him. Behind him, another child, dressed as a yellow clown, is on the sidewalk holding the hand of a much younger child that's dressed like a black cat. The older child yells at Sam: Ewww Sam, leave that dead bird alone!

His dress shirt is a vivid red with a tan plaid pattern on the upper half and white trim on the edges of the pattern. His cowboy pants are black and flared at the ends with white trim and a silhouetted image of a cowboy on a rearing horse swinging a rope printed on both legs near the bottom. Satou is holding a pillowcase full of candy in one hand while pointing a toy gun at the camera with other hand yelling: Bang!

An Alternate universe illustration of Satou and Tanaka in which Satou is the same age as Tanaka and they go to a US high school together in the early 2000s. Satou is more preppy and popular. Tanaka dresses more alternatively and listens to metal - he has a beloved pair of baggy tripp pants but that's not pictured here. Pictured is Tanaka and Satou in Tanaka's messy room. Satou is staying over Tanaka's house so Tanaka is trying to keep him entertained. He has clothes on the floor and a bunch of CDs & cassettes cluttering the top of his dresser sandwiched with a small media player and a purple lava lamp. Some of his homework has been precariously tossed on top. On a small shelf above his bed he has a wireless phone and an empty can of soda next to it. Tanaka is sitting on this bed with his fists balled up in his lap expressing embarrassment. Tanaka: I know it's no PS2 but this is what I have. Meanwhile Satou is sitting cross-legged on the floor and digging through a cardboard box labeled, 'Kouji's old crap'. He is astonished to find a bunch of retro gaming paraphernalia. He has a NES Zapper gun in his left hand and in his right, a NES Zelda cartridge. Satou: Holy shit, a golden Zelda cartridge.

A 2000s US High School AU. IDK if this my fav but I like it.
In this AU, Satou and Tanaka go to high school together. Satou is more preppy and popular. Tanaka dresses more alternatively & listens to metal.
Despite this, they have become friends.

A redraw of a scene from Volume 4, Chapter 19 of Ajin in which Tanaka, with his hands in his pockets, turns to 3 teenage girls and says: That's not something you should do for fun. He is telling these girls not to check out a building downtown for fun since he knows Satou plans to blow it up. Not knowing Tanaka, the girls are visibly creeped out by him. The context is that Tanaka was walking past these girls and overheard them. Aware of Satou's plan, he can't help but turn around and impulsively tell the girls not to go. Creeped out by their encounter with this weird guy they decide to go home.

Ajin Week 25 - Day 5: Favorite Scene
This is a scene I've always loved involving Tanaka in the manga. It marks a turning point in his character.

A small silent comic with Tanaka from Ajin that takes place during the canon events of the manga. From behind and at distance, we see Tanaka in a cap and mask in a grocery store staring down at a stall of watermelon on sale for 1500 yen. One hand is stuffed in his jacket while the other is holding a shopping cart. In a closeup, we see that each watermelon is carefully cradled in foam wrapping to protect them from damage. Their stems are still attached and they have a beautiful and attractive green color. It's nostalgic. Pictured is a memory of Tanaka as a child happily eating a slice of watermelon with a stack of comics waiting to be read as a fan keeps him cool in the summer heat. Back to the present, we see Tanaka reacting to the memory. It's a happy memory but would he ever be able to feel like that again? Maybe having some watermelon might bring back a taste of the feeling.

Title: Breakfast Setup: This 4 page comic takes place during the series and before the Forge arc but after Satou forms the rest of his group. Okuyama is in a tracksuit while Tanaka has his black leather jacket and slicked back hair. Page 1 Okuyama yawns as he walks through an empty hallway. He nearly passes the doorway to the breakroom when Tanaka spots him. Tanaka: Okuyama! He beckons Okuyama to come over with a gesture. Tanaka: Come sit with me. Okuyama takes a seat at the fold-out table across from Tanaka. He notices that Tanaka's breakfast consists of leftover fried chicken and alcohol.

Page 2 Tanaka bites into a fried drumstick, tearing off a piece with his teeth and leaving crumbs everywhere. Drunk, he has to concentrate a little as he chews for a moment. While eating still, he asks Okuyama if he's hungry and pushes the box of leftover chicken in Okuyama's direction. Okuyama declines, slightly grossed out. Tanaka continues to eat offscreen.

Page 3 Tanaka: You know, I don't understand Gen and Takahashi! Okuyama watches as Tanaka leans forward with the drumstick in his hand. Tanaka: The legs are the best part!" Tanaka waves the half-eaten drumstick at Okuyama who stares at it silently. Okuyama tilts his head with an expression of curiosity. Okuyama: Hey Okuyama: Can I ask a question?" Tanaka talks into a glass of alcohol. Tanaka: Yeah, go ahead. Okuyama points at Tanaka. Okuyama: Aren't you hot in that thing?

Page 4 Tanaka looks down and places a hand on his jacket where Okuyama is pointing. Okuyama: It's the middle of summer and you usually have it zipped up. It was 35 celsius yesterday. Tanaka non-chalantly confirms this. Tanaka: Oh, yeah. Tanaka digs his fingers into the collar of his leather jacket and speaks with emphasis. Tanaka: I'm hot as balls. Tanaka: The lining of this thing reeks. Tanaka: Every morning I have to spray it with vinegar. In the background, a small doodle of a sleepy Tanaka is holding out his leather jacket away from him with one hand whilte spraying the lining with the other, his hair is still not yet made. Okuyama politely replies: Huh! However, Okuyama makes an internal assessment: He's like a lonely housewife. This poor guy. Does he have any idea he's being strung along by Mr. Satou? He tries so hard to look tough too. Meanwhile, Tanaka becomes aware of the awkward silence between them and gets concerned. Tanaka: Hellooo! Earth to Okuyama! Okuyama is lost in his own thought process as he realizes something: And yet...

A younger Tanaka is in a shirt and cargo shorts. He is wading in the ocean with great concentration as waves splash around him. Then, a large wave slams against his back and takes him by surprise. Tanaka's clothes are soaked and he looks incredibly displeased. The water is now at ankle-level.
