Museum Receives Thousands of Images by One of America’s Earliest Female Photographers Alice Austen is famed for her intimate portraits of women's lives in the Victorian era.

The Alice Austin House on Staten Island has received nearly 7,500 prints and negatives made by its namesake resident. Austin (1866-1952) was a key figure in early American photography and queer cultural history.
