predictability is one of anri's charm points. she travels a lot even for an adventurer and will regularly just drop off the face of the star, but there are a handful of places she'll inevitably visit: the family estate, juliette's shop, elle's clinic & most adventurer's guild locations.

anri's skin feels surprisingly or unexpectedly warm (though not unnaturally so) despite being so pale, and could be described as "textured" from old scars (and the inevitable fresh bruise & nick from more recent fights)

anri has the expressiveness and body language of a statue, and even just nodding or shaking her head are things she'll do infrequently at best. *the* exception to this rule is tilting her head - when she's curious, when she's intrigued, when she's confused, when she's thoughtful...

it doesn't happen often, but it's not entirely unusual for anri to imagine herself living a different, much quieter life: soimething like raising chocobos or other animals out in the middle of nowhere, or working on a small farm away from everyone. they're usually very lonely dreams.

no, like, really. who allowed her to be this handsome.

-> seeing how wild chocobos are tamed (or captured and tamed) and generally learning a lot about how to properly care for them, how to train them & what to keep in mind when raising them to become mounts for adventurers has always fascinated her. it was probably the only part ->

it's not necessarily something she *hides*, but it's something that doesn't really come up often and she doesn't really bring it up on her own - either way, anri loves chocobos. it's probably the ishgardian in her, or maybe the part of her childhood spent around talifeather, but ->

-> it's no coincidence that she has become such a fiercely loyal protector to those she cares about: her worst fears are being utterly alone (again), and being utterly helpless (again).

-> there to keep her safe. there was nothing she *could* have done, realistically, short of dying with her, but the cycle of losing her family, then falling in love and failing to protect that person has left *deep* scars. she still struggles with forming bonds to this day, and ->

soleil was the first person to show anri unconditional kindness after all the tragedies she experienced, and they inevitably fell in love. her use of conjury to tend to the sick & injured of the brume eventually had her taken to witchdrop as heretic, and anri wasn't ->

anri moves with purpose: a steady, confident stride towards a clear destination as opposed to a leisurely walk. she'll slow down if she's specifically accompanying someone else (or being accompanied by someone else) and will let them decide the pace, but otherwise she's consistent.

we've hit the point of anri's adventurer arc (she's no longer denying it!) where she probably has a reputation in the adventurer's guild for being a very dutiful, reliable type - but also needing a lot of convincing to do anything that isn't hunting voidsent. she's an alimont after all.

as for who she trusts to that degree: shockingly, not a lot of people at all. obviously juliette and elle; after tural also princess and amelia via the silver roses.

the greatest show of trust anri is capable of is being fully disarmed around someone. no gunblade, no sword, no pistol, no daggers, nothing. being hunted as a child has left her with a degree of paranoia; not having access to *any* weapons at all makes her feel vulnerable and helpless.

-> eyes than her mouth. it's subtle enough that someone unfamiliar with her might not even know she's smiling.

anri doesn't smile a whole lot, but of course it depends heavily on her company: if she feels comfortable and safe with friends, she'll do it more than when she's speaking to strangers. either way, her smiles are small and mellow in nature, and she tends to smile more with her ->

anri spent 7 years of her upbringing in ishgard and the surrounding area until her family was exiled & excommunicated. the rest, she spent traveling with the sellsword warband that ended up adopting (read: conscripting) her - another 6 years in dravania, and over a decade in gyr abania.

-> her. she's still ready to die on any given day, but unlike before she's no longer willing to accept that outcome if there's even a sliver of a chance of survival. there's too much to lose, too many people she cares about, and also too many people who care about her.

for most of her life, anri felt like she was living on borrowed time: being hunted down by the ishgardian clergy, losing her life in battle as sellsword, getting killed by monsters or voidsent during adventures, etc. it's only a recent development that things turned around for ->

anri would prefer not to, but she can't help herself: it's both out of a sense of duty, and because she has experienced deepest helplessness at an early age and wouldn't wish that on anyone. good deeds don't put food on your plate or sharpen your sword, but they keep your heart beating.

-> there may be a point in the future where she might think differently, where she's no longer restless, where she's no longer ready to die at a moment's notice for her chosen cause - maybe it'll take a wedding, having a child, maybe something else entirely... but it's far off.

anri is an incorrigible workaholic. it's the one thing that'll sabotage any relationship of hers, be it professional, platonic or romantic: she can make concessions by taking breaks and making *some* time for the people in her life, but the nature of any break is that it's temporary. ->

-> never *truly* been in control of their destiny, and both find comfort in each other's presence because they know the other has gone through (more or less) the same shit. there's a wordless, silent understanding between them. and then there's the healer/fighter & butch/femme dynamics.

anri and elle have the classic vampire x vampire hunter (well, nightkin x voidhunter) deal going. both are huntresses in their own right & in their own way, fundamentally different from one another and yet directly intertwined. both are (more or less) alone in the world, both have ->

anri can't deal with fake-nice people or haughty, arrogant types. beyond that, being outright cruel to others- causing suffering or grief for no reason or gain at all- is a fast way onto her shit-list as well.

#almondlore

that the alimonts trace their lineage all the way back to mhach is a ridiculous notion that should be dismissed. they have always lived in the region where ishgard would later be founded, and continued to live there long after, and certainly don't have old blood ties to ancient cities.

a dangerous combination of being too stubborn and too dutiful to give up or accept defeat; at her core, though, anri is motivated by love. to her, nine out of ten people are selfish and cruel, but it's the tenth person who reminds her of what she's fighting for.

subtly if you don't know her, painfully obviously if you do: anri will show affection through comfortable silence, occasional (rather than incidental) visits, shared meals, general voluntary acts of service & as most obvious one, unconditional support.

answering my own bc i originally wanted to just ramble about this but figured itd be a fun question to ask ppl

anyway; if it wasn't for her trauma-block on using magic, anri would be a great dark knight: violence not out of cruelty, but to fiercely protect the downtrodden & loved ones.
