Jan and Mick for scale in an old quarry off the south side of the track above Los Abades service area at Loja. There is a lot of calcite veining in the limestone.

View west from the track by the quarry into the Antequera Basin. This is part of a series of Neogene basins, some freshwater, some oceanic, that ran between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. The narrow gap betwen the two basins is now exploited by the Rio Genil.
