“Strip searching is routine, excessive & rarely driven by intelligence”. On avge men searched 31x per year, c/f women searched on avge 11x per year. Some individuals searched 100s of times a year. 374 children searched in WA in one year, none found w contraband. #anzsoc2019

To reduce the scale of imprisonment we need to recognise the victimisation of so many of those imprisoned. People are rarely just ‘offenders’ - too often they are victims as well #anzsoc2019
