In a volume on the reconstruction of the evolutionary history of american dogs, as far as art is concerned, the Colima statuettes cannot be missing. These portray dogs, probably ancestors of the current Xolo, enormously fattened. This happened because the ancient Maya had the custom of feeding on their dogs, except those of the rulers who enjoyed any privilege, therefore even living until the end of their days. Among the many things I will discuss, I will try, as in the two previous volumes (ORIGINS and ROMA CANES MUNDI), to reconstruct the social context (coexistence and emotional sphere towards the natives) in which these dogs were born, grew up, and then died. But to see the light of this new volume, whose title will be MIGRATIONS, you will have to wait a few more months (end of 2024).
