Thanks! If you can scroll back in my timeline to December, I did a “Top 25” countdown (plus a lot of honorable mentions) of my favorite sunset photos of the year for the #ArtAdventCalendar.

That was a lot of Michigan sunset goodness!

I'm grateful to @jayispainting.earthskyart.ca to help me be more comfortable using ALT all yr.

#ArtAdventCalendar encourages posters to use ALT to give context/more info than is accommodated by bluesky's limited numbers of characters.

I'm no techie but adding descriptions and ALT TEXT was a learning curve many worked at in December 2025 on #ArtAdventCalendar
Some of your images are really good & wld be worth posting, especially w descriptions next Dec when it runs again.
If you're interested I cld tell you more about that.

This is correct.

I am ⅔ of the way through Moby Dick, and loving the ongoing #ShittyCameraChallenge. I get great art, book, and music recs, there're great scholars available to answer questions, brilliant humorists, & every winter the #ArtAdventCalendar showers me with creativity.

Fuck Twitter.

A blue square fused glass panel with 3 kiln carved ammonites, a black glass paint seashell and seaweed, a copper shell and copper wavy seaweed inclusions. The panel has bubbles from the fusing process in the kiln and a hole where a big bubble popped which people have been kind enough to say could have been deliberate (but it wasn't).

A fused glass panel based on my father's fossil collection from holidays on the wonderful Dorset Jurassic Coast in the 1960s &70s. It missed #Artadventcalendar as it was a present!

Still Life of small paintings of Honey Bees. There is a jar of Honey on a Brown Marble Shelf. A Honey Dipper hangs suspended by a Red thread & the honey runs down into the open jar. There is a cutout from a Honey Nut Cheerios Box also suspended by a red thread. Light passes through the honey jar casting a shadow on the back wall.

One of the key philosophies of the #ArtAdventCalendar event I started 11 years ago is that it should be for every skill level and it's important for folks to see all the possibilities, styles & media. We have had the most basic levels to absolutely world class artists participate.

I'm really grateful for a month of #ArtAdventCalendar which has conditioned me - for the most part - to add AltText.
I still screw up.
And admittedly there's been a time or two if it's complex or I'm too tired, I. just. hit Enter - and cringe a bit.
But I feel 100% better each time I make the effort

There are four dandelions in the bottom corners with some specks being blown off them. The sky is a gradient from dark blue to light blue.

A Tale of Return - Catching the Sun - Page 4

“I’ve lived here many years but wasn’t born here. Aria, my nurture mother, cared for me when I came here wandering long ago, alone and unknown,” Skye grew quiet remembering.
“So, you are a Seeker like me,” Quédam prompted.
“No, not a Seeker. Just someone once lost but found. Aria gave me my name when I had none. She taught me the ways of the Celestia Realm,“ Skye spoke as she glanced at the window. In the window hung 17 multicolored glass spheres representing all the Realms catching the sunlight. “Magic is just one of many villages here in Celestia. Each home has the 17 spheres where we weave cool breezes for all the realms, craft the scent of flowers to aid in happiness & health, and, through the spheres, do good deeds by helping others. Celestia is the one all the way at the top,” Sky pointed to the blue sphere in the window, “we are closest to the Veil. All Sons and Daughters of Celestia here work to achieve an immortal soul before they pass beyond the Veil. That is what I know. And what of you? What are you seeking to find”
Quédam looked at the spheres catching the last rays of the sun, “Someone who I lost long ago. I let my responsibilities of my high-ranking position bind me. I always meant to go look for her but the time slipped by. Now, I am just an old man.”

Note: See next 'image' that is the second half of this page. It would not let me fit all of it here in ALT text. The ALT text in next image has the second half so your reader can continue the story.

Visual: The visual for page 4 is a photograph of a vined covered window with light streaming in. Hanging in the window are 17 glass spheres of different colors. They catch the sunlight beautifully.

Skye met the gaze of this quiet old man noticing the heavy sadness in his eyes but also a glimmer of joy and a flash of hope. Before she asked about who his lost loved one was Quédam spoke, “The sun is setting, and I shall have to soon make my way to the Traveler’s Inn. Might I also speak with Aria?”
“Aria passed beyond the Veil eight years ago,” Skye gazed down into the empty cup in her hand. “I miss her,” she whispered.
“My condolences on your loss,” Quédam said.
The room grew quiet for minutes as both sat in contemplation. Quédam broke the silence, “You mentioned Aria gave you your name when you were lost. Did you ever find out your true name?
“I have thought about it from time to time, but no, I have not,” answered Skye as she stood up to clear the table. She shrugged off the persistent question that had surfaced over the years, “I figure I have time to find it later”
“Time is a terrible trickster,” Quédam advised, “don’t let it sit too long least you find yourself old like me.” He stood and helped Skye gather up the empty plates and cups. Once cleared, he gathered his walking cane, travel cloak and bag and stepped outside the door.
“The inn is just ten minutes from here. Just go down this path to the crossroads, take a right, and just past the row of four mushroom houses and Oak at the end you will see it,” said Skye
““I thank you for your kindness for rest and food,” Quédam bowed in gratitude, “I hope our paths cross again so that I might repay your kindness.”
“You are very welcome,” replied Skye, “Mana blessings on your travels and may you find what you seek.”
Quédam smiled and began walking. Skye noted that his steps seemed lighter. She closed the door but could not shut out the questions that now lingered long after his visit. “What was her true name? Who was she?

#artAdventCalendar 2025 had 630 participants who posted over 8500 images over 24 days with 97% AltText usage.

That's remarkable when the average use here is in the low to mid 20%.

Be better, be kind & be inclusive.

Politics arising fr prov gov in Alberta + federal US administrations made personal optimism tricky in 2025.

I took advantage of @jayispainting.earthskyart.ca and #ArtAdventCalendar to bring positivity in Dec to my BSky acct.

Focusing (pardon the pun) on showcasing others' photography more in 2026.

Yes. I wondered about posting it again so people saw it w/o accessing the Alt text.
But concluded that making it obvious was better than taking a chance ppl wldn't access the Alt Text.
So glad you ARE using Alt Text.
In December #ArtAdventCalendar got users in the habit of using it more.

A comic depicting some sort of science lab.

Frame 1. Two scientists are looking inside a cage at some sort of creature. The first scientist says "I've never seen anything like it. This species' self-defense mechanism is to post relatable memes mocking their predators online."

Frame 2. The second scientist looks at the first and says "I don't appreciate your attempts at humor, Dr. Medina." The creature turns its head and looks at the scientists, eyes wide, and pings are heard from below them.

Frame 3. The scientists pull out their tablet and phone, which show a meme of the throwing up emoji with the caption “WHEN THE JACKASS WHO SKIMPS ON THE GOOD TREATS TALK SHIT” on the top, and on the bottom “TALKS SHIT TO THE LEAD SCIENTIST.” In the background, the creature is hissing at the second scientist.

I watched The Muppet Christmas Carol with some pals on Christmas Eve last week, and we realized @hrwilson.bsky.social's character Zellias is basically just Gonzo and Rizzo at the same time. Inside him are two Muppets. And that's beautiful. 💙
