Sometimes I spend hours fixing details no one will notice… then realize the piece already felt better before I overworked it.

Goal for whenever is to perfect the way of creating seamless patterns out of my own doodles

Some days I write. Some days I draw. Some days I just stare at the page and call it “research.”

As an additional note, they're not anthro.

Going to be one of my Pokémon characters (if not more than one, though I have to be mindful about how much I spend).
Only three to go from currently.
1) Vaporeon OC character Amber
2) Ninetales-sized Fennekin OC Shura (a healer)
3) Dewott OC Yamir (he's a pirate)

Getting around to commissioning again this month. Still on that whole getting "reference sheets for my characters". I already got two being worked on by an awesome artist (since last month).

Concept art is less about polish and more about clear decision making every shape, color and overall form is there to answer a design question.

Well, *I* get Honeyeater vibes from this:) Again: the night-time warmth found in a play of teal & lime & orange, & how *cold* the pale pink highlights appear in consequence, & the freeze-frame, cryptid, snapshot depth of the lighting (@choodraws.bsky.social uses that starkness well)
#artthoughts
It won't surprise anyone that I like that tealy green, and the orange — but those flashes of lime are so daring and add depth and warmth and shimmer. Then the art-nouveau treatment of the plants, the quasi-microscope effect of moon, the graphics taken together charmingly surprising.
#artthoughts
Such a fun balance of three colours — the evenly spaced blue, the stars varying just enough to twinkle (but tracing a path), the plants equally weighted, & then the focus pulled by the sudden weight of moon, eyes, solid black cat, an almost still moment in the constant movement.

The hardest part about getting back into the swing of drawing and creating again is trying to let myself be messy. Try not to be precious with everything and let the art be bad.
Also hand-eye-coordination.

A reminder that real change doesn’t come from perfection or politeness. It comes from people who care enough to disrupt, challenge, and push back.
The ones who refuse to stay quiet💜

Other times, I just sit back and scroll, saving ideas that I may never use, and honestly, that’s still part of the process. Sometimes creating doesn’t mean producing. Sometimes it just means absorbing.

2/2... It gives what is otherwise a fairly flat and static and cheerful image just enough drama to make it even funnier
#artthoughts
There's a funny little hint of depth here, with so little light or shading! As far as I can tell, it's a function of the contrast between dark smoke & the light page, the overlaps (smoke/frame; cat face/arm/frame) and the tiny touch of shadow below & in the hint of wall at right... 1/2

and the foreground figure which IS static seems all movement and abandon by contrast and implication

The light is SO UNCOMFORTABLE. The way it is so white and just — stops, less like a door and more like a box, a stage. And that makes the tableau seems static despite obvious movement, beyond ritual, huge & stately, like beings rising from the deep — and

Look at them! The repetition & echoes, yes, but more so the variations — the little tilts, the symmetry shifting into a hint of dimensions, the distinctions between every red (blue-red, pink, orange,) the textures of spot and colour, the spacing... Such an air of shuffling movement

And people will actually go into brick and mortar art galleries to see simple, imperfect art hanging on the walls with great respect. Because they will know they lost this somehow.
#artthoughts
Like "here's a photo I took today looking up at a tree. What I see." Because someday, these things will be considered art again. Not because they're slick. But because people will need real again. And want real again. And be able to look and see again. And appreciate life.

Boring by some people's "standards". Simple or messy. Post today's thing. Post perfect. Post look-at-me. Post US empire. Post Insta. Post meaning "after". Like it used to mean.
#artthoughts
If I had an art gallery, I'd do a show (or only show) work that is not slick. Even abstract work that is not slick. Good energy, not staying in the lines. Interesting subjects and composition. Photos from your phone that still look great on a wall. Not the money shot. Not perfect.

A poet once made a list so exhaustive it erased hierarchy —
birds, mammals, insects, oceans, land — all equal in the cycle.
That’s not shock value.
That’s ecology as poetry.

Its really interesting trying to draw a character/characters im not super familiar with. Typically, the characters i draw are either ones from my favorite media's or theyre my ownn oc's.. #artthoughts #artmoots
This is a digital painting of a snowy scene. A gated fence runs across the front of a tree line. It is the zoomed in portion of the left region of the other piece feature in the post.
This is a digital painting in landscape orientation. It shows a gated fence running through a snowy forest scene. Two tree trunks grow tall, out of frame, and an evergreen tree stands between them.
day 1087: I think it’s pretty neat how cropping something can turn it into an almost entirely different piece. The piece on the left is simply a portion (or even, a “piece” 😉) of the one on the right.
