Part 2 of this is coming……with a few more surprises from a remote location anaesthetic practise, worth waiting for.
Stay tuned…

With #ASM25CNS behind us, we're already looking forward to #ASM26AKL - we hope to see you in Auckland in May 2026! bit.ly/4jNg6tr
Ok time for a break.
I hope you have enjoyed this so far.
Still more lovely peeps to see.
#ASM25CNS
Poor @elephantonabike.bsky.social Diarmuid, he was minding his own business when I pushed in and took a selfie.
Another who probably thinks I am insane but smiles politely.
Lovely person who is a great supporter of @bsky.app
#ASM25CNS
I found the lovely @hypoxicchicken.medsky.social and squished him to death in a hug.
What a gorgeous man.
I have permission from spouse @urethroplasty.bsky.social to hug him but probably not to death,
Mwah and sorry I broke rubs with the hug.
#ASM25CNS
More photos including the gorgeous young First Nations RMO Dr Oceania Henry.
She was one of the highlights from #ASM25CNS
Such a dynamic amazing women.
She has got to be an anaesthetist.
I am on to it.
Bravo Oceania
@anzca.bsky.social
The function at Hemingway’s was wild.
Very crowded and hot. I am with the lovely Dr Yasmin Endlich, Dr Rebecca Lewicki, Dr Scott Ma, Dr Kate Drummond & others
I wore sparkles and had a lot of fun.
#ASM25CNS
Then out of the blue I found myself next to @lightfootsj.bsky.social the lovely Dr Magpie.
Poor man I was more excited than he, when his paper was acknowledged.
Sorry I broke your arm from squeezing in excitement.
#Awkies
#ASM25CNS
First delightful person I met was the wonderful Don Mackie.
Sorry Don I can’t find your Bluesky handle.
He is such a lovely person and a great conference buddy.
Big mwah Don xx
#ASM25CNS
Last post will be lots of social functions and selfies.
If this does not interest you, guess what you can just scroll on by.
We are all clever this way.
Anyway it will be exciting so be prepared…..

Last speaker was Dr Debra Leung who presented using a nominal group to develop clinical practise guidance for shared decision making in surgery.
A super smart and elegant study, she managed to get a group of people to agree on something.
Best on ground IMO
#ASM25CNS Bravo
Number 4 speaker was Dr Ned Douglas on physiological drivers of hypotension after vascular surgery.
Ned is doing a PhD and this was part of it.
Super smart and super interesting.
Future superstar
#ASM25CNS
Apologies No 1 speaker was Dr Yang Yew.
I was very obsessed with the whole session.
You were amazing Yang.
#ASM25CNS
Number 3 speaker was Dr Sally Tsang
Goodness she’s a powerhouse for PeriOp.
I would love to work with her, she is my PeriOP tribe.
Great talk.
#ASM25CNS
#MedSky #AnSky
Ok number 1 speaker did a study on ketosis with starving.
He said a lot in a short time but gosh it was good.
#ASM25CNS
I did like this one.
Ok #MedSky and #AnSky this is part 2 of my last day at our major anaesthetic conference #ASM25CNS in Cairns.
A supposedly sunny part of Far North Queensland.
Naturally it rained every day constantly.
It was a sensational conference, raincoats on xx
Following on from the @anzca.bsky.social #ASM25CNS, I’ve come home & chased up pharmaceutical waste bins for our theatres (😀) and stepped up my Ban the Bluey (not the dog 🙃) campaign with surgeon Dr Sarah Choi! @archiecurium.bsky.social
Thank you to ANZCA for a fantastic ASM in Cairns and for your continued support of global anaesthesia.
It was wonderful to have Tony Gin and WFSA Past-President Wayne Morriss attending and representing the WCA and WFSA communities.

That’s the end of part 1.
Stay tuned for part 2 coming soon.
#ASM25CNS
She presented what they are doing to improve their pre op assessment model.
Really enjoyed this talk.
#ASM25CNS
Next was Dr Evelyn Waugh, a quietly spoken person who has a heart of gold. She is bringing pre op assessment to the people.
Most poignant was the story of the chap who travelled 28 hours to get to his appointment.
We need to get out and travel. Who’s with me?
#ASM25CNS
Imagine getting through labour and then there’s a PPH.
Great tips to avoid more problems.
I was getting palpitations at this stage.
If I am ever heard saying I want to do Obs in Darwin, you know I have been kidnapped.
#ASM25CNS
Treatment and pre planning was next.
This is an amazing team of super smart people.
The cultural considerations were really educational for me.
We need to understand the distances involved and the multiple languages spoken.
#ASM25CNS
We went on the ugly and it’s messy.
Like a blocked sink, which I thought was the perfect analogy.
Imagine being so far from a major centre and this women walks through the door. Yikes.
#ASM25CNS
Next he spoke about the good, bad and the ugly.
Matthew puts the cool in cucumber, I doubt much worries him.
Honestly I could hear the theme music from the film but wait it gets worse 😫
#ASM25CNS
His talk on mitral valve disease was really interesting.
I am going to post his entire talk.
The stats on First Nations women and RHD is very scary.
#ASM25CNS
I arrived early to the first session and sat down next a nice young man.
We had a chat and I suggested he come and get some more training in Adelaide.
Being the interrogator I am found it he was a consultant.
Who could he be??
#ASM25CNS
Ok seat belts on this is my summary of my last day at #ASM25CNS.
Another action packed day, and I took so many photos my phone battery went flat.
