Candlelight brightens a dark room, revealing gargoyle statues and red lilies. Golbez is seated and in front of him is Durante. Durante has his left hand raised close to Golbez, who is watching him warily. There is a splash of blood on Golbez's face. some background rambling: parts of the Thirteenth reminded me of the way inter-warring factions clash in horror media, so yet another silly AU was made for me to play around with the idea. been reading up on VtM stuff, so that's been the driving inspiration here. anyway, the context is that Golbez is from a faction that Durante's is long-opposed to, but chose to work with the latter due to hostility from his original group. this has left him without resources or allies in unfriendly territory and his assimilation over the past deacde has been met with friction and wariness. at least, until a curious man decided to chance conversation with Golbez one day. now, they sit at a crossroads, one that will illuminate a new path for both of them. or, at least Durante would say it was a "chance" encounter. the truth would be at this moment had long been orchestrated by Golbez seeking to carve a path to greater paths. it would be easy for a lone wolf to become endeared to a lonelier dragon, the first faithful in his collection.
