AND I think that what’s interesting abt both Giorno and Mista’s way of leading is that they both directly tie to the lessons they took from Bruno imo Giorno’s mission to overthrow Passione and take it under his control was encouraged by Bruno, who brought him into the criminal underworld and who he looked to as both an equal and an example, he viewed Bruno as moral and admirable and clearly was pretty attached to him given how hard he fought to try and keep Bruno alive. It’s not crazy to think that he would’ve seen Bruno’s style of leadership as being something worthy of emulating, regardless of if he does a perfect job of it or not
Meanwhile Mista was introduced to Bruno through a very warm and personal act of being saved from jail time and treated to a feast, he clearly admires Bruno and would give up his own life in a heartbeat to save Bruno, I think while he OBVS is very privy to Bruno’s cold, detached side, he feels more connected to that warmer side of Bruno who’s willing to go out of his way to save others, and I think that’s the side of Bruno he chooses to try and emulate when he takes on the title of Capo. And this is also 100% part of why Mista and Giorno don’t get along in my AU, they’re warm vs cold, involved vs detached, they fundamentally disagree with each other on several methods of leadership but neither of them really want to get into it so instead they kind of let that confusion and resentment fester
Mista on the other hand would probably struggle - NOT to say that he is incapable of being a stern leader, but rather that I don’t think it’s in his nature to be cold and detached. Imo he’s a pretty empathetic guy and while he can execute brutal orders without blinking, it feels like it would be harder for him to distance himself from his actions when he’s no longer just another soldier, and when it’s him in charge of commanding others. I feel like he would end up becoming a more involved leader kind of despite his best wishes bc he has this optimism and this strong sense of belief and it would make it difficult for him to create the same walls between him and his recruits as what Bruno previously set up with him
I also feel like Mista’s natural instinct in a leadership position is to YES lock in and bark orders but also to try and provide and guide (NOT trying to parentify him I’m going off of the way he’s introduced with his Stand, the culmination of his fighting spirit is a ragtag team of misbehaving freaks that he has to provide for and that he tries to lead, defuse conflicts for, etc) and that instinct places him in a position where he wants to get to know his recruits more bc he wants to be a positive force for them, it’s those instincts mixing with his perspective which, for better or for worse, places him as something of a severe optimist (while he is guided by obsessive superstition he is also of the belief that he can stop fate if he just tries hard enough and that IS optimistic blending into idealistic)
Like Bruno imo seemed the warmest when he was bringing new members into the fold (obvs we don’t get to see if he was softer offscreen or anything) but when he acted as a proper leader to his crew he was pretty strict, not afraid to raise his voice, and clearly didn’t let himself get involved in any of the same dumb shenanigans his recruits got into. Maybe he was more lenient before he became a capo? But like he was stone cold
Giorno is someone who I think could emulate that style of leadership to an extent bc he’s shown from the very start that while he’s a pretty caring individual he is capable of being just as cold and hiding his feelings pretty well, and I feel like that’s what he does in Aureogenesis, especially bc it makes it easier for him to deal with some of the more unsavory parts of running an organized crime group if he maintains distance between himself and the people he’s ordering to do all these things in his name He wouldn’t WANT to necessarily be a feared or distant boss, but I think it’s what he’d become out of necessity to deal with the responsibility
Thinking abt leadership styles in my postcanon AU bc like I think that’s one of the things that makes Giorno and Mista both so interesting in their own ways ESPECIALLY when u compare em to Bruno Bruno was pretty cold as a leader all things considered and I think Giorno emulates that well while Mista definitely struggles to maintain the same distance when it comes to his own recruits (not to say Bruno was distant, but he wasn’t the super-involved parental figure fandom paints him as)
