photo of kang yeosang (ateez) with blonde hair sitting on a staircase. he's wearing an all black post-apocalyptic style outfit.
His gaze wandered outside, out the broken expanse of wall and out towards where he could begin to see the edges of the impact site. The Haze always looked different during rainfall, tempered as if the water was neutralizing the harmful fumes. He so badly wanted to study it, to go into the center and truly learn about the massive crater that marked a turning point in their history. That, however, was not what dominated his thoughts at the moment. Yeosang moved to sit within the broken section of the wall, back pressed to concrete smoothed by time. He tucked the filter between his lips to free his hands, tugging his threadbare coat tighter around his shoulders both for warmth and a comfort he knew he would not find. There was only one comfort that could soothe him right now and he knew it was something he’d never have again. Having inhaled far too much during his mental listlessness, he hacked a sudden cough and watched as the smoke disappeared quickly in the rain. His shredded jeans were already damp, well on their way to soaked, but he couldn’t bring himself to really give a shit.
The memory of broken whimpers and gentle caresses haunted him. His gaze wandered to where he’d last seen the alpha before he’d disappeared from sight, present eyesight blurring as he lost himself to the ghost of sensations and softly spoken words. There was an ache deep in his chest, the same one he'd felt on that rooftop and had been wholly unprepared to dissect. Truthfully, he had enjoyed their time together, and that just made the caustic guilt in the cauldron of his gut rise to a rolling boil. The bile was easy to swallow down at this point, eased further when he opened his mouth and extinguished the now pathetic roach against his tongue. The taste of ash somehow managed to settle his stomach and he flicked the butt into a corner of his room. In another life, maybe he would’ve made the journey to East Metro and sought out the alpha — to repent or romance he wasn’t entirely sure. However, in another life he wouldn’t be here, shoulders burdened with a weight he knew he would have to bear but hadn’t expected to be so crushing. In this life, all he could do was fall into the spiral of what-if’s he tried so desperately to avoid.
