lore explanations + piece highlights :) THE HANDS > Minfilia's hands are both being used to support/comfort Vaya, but are not trying to remove him from his place (she understands and values the purpose of his pain and wants to steady him). > Vaya's hands are gripping the handle of his blade (accepting his duty and death) and attempting to comfort Urianger while not touching her (trying not to overstay his welcome, or accept any help). > Urianger is trying to use one hand to steady herself and have a place on the sword, but rather ends up cutting herself on the edge (showing that she does not have the same control on this "game" as the others). Her other hand is hooked around Vaya, trying to pull him in (she feels deeply guilty over having put him in this place and selfishly wants to pull him out of it). EXPRESSIONS :( > I felt Urianger shouldn't be crying in this piece because she feels she doesn't deserve to, but she clearly needs that release. I really like how I managed to make it look like she wants to plea with Vaya for forgiveness or beg him not to go at all, and yet she chokes that urge back to allow him to speak. > Vaya's words must be soft, even giving Urianger the absolution she thinks she wants, but it must be coming out as Vaya putting himself down, an expendable pawn. He came to accept Urianger's betrayal in SHB by telling himself, "Urianger is wise, so if she thought me dying was an acceptable risk, she must be right in thinking my life isn't that important." This does not stop him from shedding tears, which shine bright. Hope seems to be built on his pain.

OTHER THINGS I LIKE Urianger and Minfilia having similar jewelry + chains Vaya and Minfilia having pink intentionally in their designs (ribbon/hair) and Urianger only has pink reflected on her sparingly because of them Vaya's armor is so dark that its details are hard to parse, and is reflecting Minfilia and Urianger's appearances in abstract color blotches but is barely reflecting any part of herself
