I am not sure it the "your" is directed at me or general your. If your is towards me. I don't stan people. People exist to disappoint. For example, someone asked if I was going to watch the new Harry Potter series. The answer was a resounding no but I used to be a huge HP fan. Never was JK stan but I admired and respected her a lot because of her rags to riches story. Then I grew up. She is a woman with a huge platform and stans. She can use it for anything, yet chooses to target a marginalized group. People can try to justify her behavior and twist what she says as advocating for women. I will not buy that bs. She can advocate for women without specially targeting people who have already been targeted and demonized, just for trying to exist.
People can say well separate the art from the artist. That's complicated. Some can do that, and more power to them, but l don't know if I can do that when a person still financially benefits from their art. This is not to judge anyone who still supports HP. I have friends who do and don't. There are even trans people who are still HP fans. I just personally have made the choice to completely erase any love I once had for those books because of the creator. So yeah I don't believe in stanning anyone, but bring Bruner back!
