Female rose breasted grosbeak showing up at my feeders today.
A very uncommon visitor to St. John's!

Maybe she's nuts, but this blue jay regularly eats from my hand.
Interestingly, she (I think) flies over to me and waits for me to open the bag of peanuts.

The younger herons were very active, looking for food to fatten up for the long journey. 🪶 #purpleheron #purperreiger #birdsNL
Just some Atlantic Puffins hanging out at Elliston, NL.
A surprise visitor was the puffin in non breeding plumage.

Took this video of a yellow warbler in my back garden just now. Does anyone know why they do this? Is it trying to lure me away from a nest? I've seen other birds display this behaviour, but not these little guys.

I've always enjoyed the calls these American Wigeons make.
This little fella was enjoying the warm #nlwx today.

I was lucky that day. Never heard or seen one before.

An orange crowned warbler continues to frequent suet & jelly feeders on Rennie's River Trail in St. John's.
This little one should be somewhere like Florida or Mexico, not Newfoundland.
At least the #NLwx has been mostly kind.

A Great Egret is continuing to hang around at Virginia Lake in St. John’s. This one should be somewhere tropical by now.

It's not the best image, but two Baltimore Orioles continue to dine at the grape jelly and suet. Not overly common for Newfoundland in late November.
The Northern Flicker takes a liking as well!
