A delightful bird - I see them pretty regularly here on the Manukau harbour. From a distance you may sometimes think they are pied oystercatchers but the white head, slender beak and those very long, slender pink legs quickly given them away. #BirdsOfAotearoa 🪶
#BirdsOfAotearoa. 🪶Our native pigeon, known informally as 'the glutton.' Has a tendency to get shamelessly drunk on fermented fruit. 🥰

And we saw keas!!! 🦜 Turns out I didn’t need to buy binoculars (and carry the extra weight 😒) to see them because just fly right up to you to try and grab your gear. #BirdsOfAotearoa #NZ
Meanwhile, I’ve turned into an old lady bird watcher! 👵🏼
I bought myself binoculars so I can try to spot kea🦜 because last year I really needed some to follow a kākāriki 🦜 I saw on a hike. #BirdsOfAotearoa
