The rearcher's notes read as follows: We have been very fortunate in being able to capture the entire labour and birth process on video, a copy of which you will find attached. Friendly's labour was a long one, however, so should you understandably wish to skip to the exciting part and leave a more detailed study of the whole event for later, Friendly starts to push a little bit at around the 12 hour mark and settles in to bear down in earnest at about 12:34, with baby making his first appearance - albeit very briefly - at 15:02 before wholly disappearing again until 15:18, when Friendly gives a particularly long and effortful push and is finally able to persuade baby to begin crowning. The researcher's notes read as follows: As you can see, fortunately, Friendly finally began letting down some milk right as he was on the cusp of giving birth, and I can happily inform you that his newborn is nursing very well. Friendly seems delighted to have had a baby, and we are very pelased that he found the nesting area we provided, on the recommendation of the observers, sufficiently satisfactory that he was content to use it. Additionally, it would appear that Friendly has been taking on board all of the signing my colleagues and I have been doing after all! He was very cooperative throughout his labour and delivery and appeared to take under consideration all of our advice and instruction. Despite the birth being a long and tiring one, he remained unworried by the pain, as we were able to explain what was happening to him and why. At the 16:04 mark, just before delivery, one can clearly see him respond to my colleague's signing "That's your baby". We are all very excited!
