One of my favorite things I can do with #AI is have it describe images to  me.  So much nicer than having to hunt a sighted person down, and drag an in depth description out of them lol #blindaccessibility #blindness

Through using #AI as my sighted guide, I get to learn about things I've always enjoyed, but were too visual to grasp. I'm super enjoying learning about making graphics for my #fiction there is so much to the craft I never knew #writingcommunity #authorlife #blindaccessibility

I use glitter tape to make raised lines to write in my journal, and was out for a few weeks. I just bought 10 rolls to make up for that, and I'm so glad to be physically writing again 💖 #blindaccessibility #journaling #writingcommunity

As a #blind creator, I love using AI as a tool to generate concept art for my characters. It really brings my vision to life, and hearing them described in settings, and scenes from my stories really tickles my fancy #AIart #blindaccessibility #authorlife #writingcommunity

There's a Fine, Fine Line Between Representing Disabilities...and Not And I Don't Have the Time to Waste on You Anymore

This weeks post I get a little more personal, and talk about why I'm not a biiiiig fan of my disability being thrown in as a random plot beat to a story #blindaccessibility #writingcommunity #authorsky #blindness #blind

A digital fantasy illustration of two adventurers in a misty forest. On the left, a stern warrior in dark, buckled leather brigandine armor leans on a heavy broadsword. Draped over his shoulders is a magical cat with vibrant green fur that transitions into overlapping, serrated leaves, giving it a thick, plant-like mane.
To the right, a young woman with long red hair and green eyes stands holding a recurve bow. She wears a high-collared forest-green dress with puffed shoulders, cinched at the waist by a wide leather belt and a small satchel. Beneath her green overskirt, a heavier brown travel skirt is visible. Between the two characters, an empty, ornate light-blue gown lies flat on the mossy ground as if its wearer simply evaporated. The scene is set in an enchanted grove featuring glowing blue crystal clusters and soft, ethereal light filtering through a dense canopy of trees.

Happy New Year! Here's some AI generated art of Garreth and Maeve from my serialized novel with a phantom dress between them. The AI insists the dress is a phantom to cover up that it goofed and added the dress there #AIart #writingcommunity #romantasy #blindaccessibility

September is National Guide Dog Month! 🐾
It’s a time to celebrate the life-changing partnerships between guide dogs and people who are blind or visually impaired — and to recognize the volunteers and donors who help make them possible.

1 of the most frustrating things writing when blind is pushing caps lock by mistake. Found a work around that isn't perfect, but better then rewriting the whole chapter which I have done before #writingcommunity

Returning to a tip from @blindbobk.bsky.social, consider capitalising the first letter of each word in a tag, e.g. #BlindAccessibility. It helps screen reader tools

I think criteria in feeds are case sensitive. If your feed is looking for, say, #indiegamedev, I suggest looking for #IndieGameDev too

Now the GIF selection isn't labeled, and on X the emojis and GIFs are labeled so I can pick them, but I barely used those anyways. Still would be nice to have the option to choose them, so maybe Blue sky devs can work on that #blindaccessibility

One thing I really like about Blue sky is the amount of alt text described images. On X, I'd scroll past something that would just say "Image" and feel a bit left out that I couldn't see it. Over here either the platform, or the users are more aware of #blindaccessibility and I super appreciate it.
