edge of an interior door frame with the latch and handle removed. blue masking tape outlines the cavity where the latch/plate now fit properly.

i successfully used one (1) dremel tip that wasn't a little circular blade. all the messy parts are hidden behind metal and the latch no longer scrapes against the strike plate on the door frame.
