A few states have #bottlebills. #Romania initiated a #beveragepackagingcollection 2 years ago; since then recycling has risen to 94%. Customers pay per bottle at purchase & get it back when they return the bottle. Other countries are looking to learn best practices.

In the Netherlands consumer goods in cans/glass/plastic bottles come with a slight fee that ranges from 15¢ to 25¢ depending on the size/type. This money can be reclaimed when the container is returned to a “reverse vending machine”; uncollected fees go to enlarging the scheme. #bottlebills
