In the 1960's my mother milked two house cows by hand, made the cream/butter, dressed and fed the family, made the lunches, hung the washing out, walked us to school, and then went and supervised Playcentre.
All for zero pay.
At 3pm she was home to do it all again.
The classic "housewife".
