A nighttime photo by Chilltown Blues of a statue of civil rights activist and educator Mary McCleod Bethune on redlined south side of Jersey City. Just behind the nine-foot bronze tall statue is a small park named for her. Since the photo is taken through glass, tricks of the light make it appear as if there's little floating orbs of light all around everything. The whole thing looks bluesy, partially because sky has deep blue tint.

The blues are about acknowledging what's hard and oppressive; and wielding that into something that takes some away some of the power of those things, if only just.
