As the late afternoon sun breaks through the clouds it casts a golden hue on the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park. I took this picture in 2023. #BigBend #Chisos #Mountains

Taking the Long View Before entering Blue Creek Canyon, I looked back at the desert. You can make out Santa Elena Canyon as a cut in the distant ridge.

We camped not too far from here, after exploring the Wilson Ranch and picking up our water cache.

Next up: #BlueCreekCanyon and a very steep ascent into the #Chisos Mountains. #BigBend

Looking back at the #Chisos Mountains after reaching the bottom of Juniper Canyon. There's 4WD access to the trail junction ahead - talk to rangers before using any 4WD road in #BigBend - but no evidence of any recent use.
