It may be miles away, but the #CrabappleFire in #Fredericksburg #Texas is already visible in #Austin. 30mph sustained winds took it from 400ac to 8600ac very quickly. If you are in the area, please be safe and evacuate early!

New Update: The #CrabappleFire has jumped to whopping 8,640 acres with zero containment. The responding crews should get a good handle on it overnight, however. Its smoke plume continues to trail from Fredericksburg into Austin city limits.

The #CrabappleFire is estimated by TAMFS to be 400 acres and 0% contained. It’s made a notable run in today’s winds, and GOES would suggest it’s at least a couple thousand acres now. Making some noise due to the smoke blowing directly over the capital city, as well.
