We fold cranes to commemorate 80 years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki, inspired by Sadako Sasaki. She survived Hiroshima at two but died at 12 from leukemia due to radiation. In the hospital, she folded 1,000 cranes for peace. Her legacy lives on as we honor her wish. #CranesForOurFuture
Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

80 years ago today, Nagasaki was destroyed by a nuclear bomb.
Today we’re one mistake, accident, grandstanding or deliberate act away from nuclear catastrophe.
Today we fold cranes to remember those lost in Nagasaki Hiroshima and fight for a safer future.

Cats want to be safe, too. It has been 80 years since the first atomic weapon devastated the people (and fur-people) of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Since then we have all been under constant thread from the people in power. #cranesforourfuture

We at the Center were proud to join @nti.org and @ploughshares.bsky.social yesterday in folding paper cranes for peace. We must honor all those whose lives were changed forever by the U.S. bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Crane folding *galore* yesterday with @nti.org! Partners across the field gathered in community to honor the legacy of Sadako Sasaki—an 11-year old diagnosed with radiation-induced leukemia after the bombing in Hiroshima—who sought to fold 1,000 paper cranes. #CranesForOurFuture

Paper crane
Every August, people around the world honor the victims of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I’m sharing a paper crane to represent my hope for a world free of nuclear weapons. #CranesForOurFuture
A black-and-white photograph of a young girl, Sadako Sasaki, is centered against a soft, pastel-colored background featuring gradients of blue, yellow, and green. Large, bold black text at the top reads: “For Sadako and all children harmed by war.” In the bottom right corner, there is a black origami crane icon next to the text: #CranesforOurFuture.
Sadako Sasaki was two when the atomic bomb hit Hiroshima. She was 12 when she died of leukemia caused by radiation. In her hospital bed, she folded 1,000 paper cranes for peace.
Today, we fold cranes in her memory & to build a safer world free from the threat of nuclear weapons. #CranesForOurFuture
