If a government want a parade or commit another genocide, they will have to crowdfund their ambitions?’ ‘That would be the starting point. We’d need a variation on the local level to ensure that basic services are always covered. But yes, no government would ever again have the money to finance the genocide of their neighbours, to crash anyone’s economy, to ignore that our natural world needs restoration not more exploitation, or any of their other blunders.’

TAX part 1 It was dwarf Salvador who came up with this idea and once the spark was ignited, it became an unstoppable fire. ‘Tax,’ Salvador said. ‘We are constantly on about taxing the rich, or cutting taxes for the rich, and oh, aren’t taxes just terrible, and just look how much the government wastes.’ ‘We know that,’ several of us returned. Salvador grinned. ‘I know that you know that. So here’s the TO DO. We stop paying taxes.’ ‘WHAT?’ several of us shouted outraged. ‘It’s the best way. Look at the US government, the UK government, the German government, the Israeli government and all the rest of them. Look at all the terrible, imbecile, damaging things they do with tax payer money. They fail us every day. So why should we give them any money?’ Jen shook her head. ‘You’re not really forgetting that they also pay for education, health, social security, arts, police work, transport and all the rest, right?’ Salvador smiled. ‘And are they doing a good job at any of that?’ Several people grimaced and Salvador said: ‘They don’t. They fail us and our planet every day. I can easily think up a system where all the institutions worth receiving public money could get this money in a much more democratic way than the ambiguous and opaque schemings of politicians.’ ‘What exactly are you suggesting?’ Cehan asked.
