idk which young artist needs to hear this but dw ab getting the best tools now, its easier to practice without guilt in a binder full of printer paper
you gain so much more confidence without the skill gap of new tools or the help of an undo button early on

This is incredibly true. I also often get asked that question and my equally "unhelpful" answer is always: Throw out what you hate doing, do what you love doing to the max.
I hate lineart and love sketching and rendering, go figure what my style looks like ^-^
