Apparently there is a copy of the diary of Josephus Newton Davis (not the handwritten original, unfortunately) in the non-circulating Special Collections section of the Dallas Public Library. One short phone call later and I had a copy of it in my inbox. Thanks #dallaspubliclibrary !
