One of the unfortunately under developed and somewhat abandoned lore I've written is that Kas has Gaius's sword.
She took it after defeating the Ultima Weapon and used it to tinker and make her own gunblade using Machinist tech.
I haven't worked with that lore for two years :(

So while I do try to fit Kas's background into the actual canon world of FF14, Nazarick's background includes a lesser House of Ishgard he is a part of. House Corbeau, the messengers and vassels to House Durendaire. They oversaw Falcon's Nest before the Calamity.

Esteem stands before Sidurgu and Rielle. Their appearance is akin to Kas-andra's but they're more masculine in stature, their scales are darker, and their eyes golden like the sun. They call out to them, saying "Sid."
An older Rielle stares at Esteem with confusion. She's heard a familiar yet old voice come from them.
Sidurgu just like Rielle eyes Esteem with suspicion as unlike Rielle, he fully recognized the voice that Esteem spoke with.
Sidurgu's confusion turns to aggression, and he sternly shouts at Esteem. "Who are you?"
I've been thinking about Esteem all night and this scene of Esteem meeting the DRK crew has been stuck in my mind and I needed to get it out even if it was just something simplistic.

Kas and Nazarick have both died before.
Kas died in the Vault protecting Haurchefant while Nazarick has died twice. The first time was on the First where he became a Lightwarden and the second was against Zenos.
And yeah... They had serious mental effects for them
