Text reads: Soap was not a feral dog and he was not a trained house pet. He did not need a handler. There was an exception when he was assigned to Ghost— Simon. Who was his first handler only under the circumstances that he needed a partner. Soap wasn't ignorant to the fact they viewed him like some kind of pet dog. He knew that was the point of the assignment— to act like a human service dog to Ghost. But Simon never once stepped over his boundaries. They'd been iffy at first— a bit touch and go. Simon didn't want Soap around to be a pet. But they got along well after a while— especially because Soap didn't act like one. Not once had Simon made him feel inferior or infantilized due to his nature. Which is why he didn't know how to react at the name. The first time had been by total surprise. "Go on, pup. Get checked out by medical and rest."
