It’s been ages since Sleep and I have been on good terms. Rare are the days when I awaken feeling fully refreshed/operational. I’ve soldiered through this for years, accepted it even; simply my lot in life combined with an overactive mind and a deviated septum courtesy of a broken nose suffered way back in my 20s amidst a story full of deplorable behavior by strangers, honor protected, and loud techno.

Finally, at the urging of my wife Susan, I recently underwent a sleep study and was brought up to speed on exactly how bad things really are. It turns out I have “very severe obstructive sleep apnea” that results in more than 40 “stops and starts” in my breathing each hour whilst I’m sleeping.

This is obviously... not good, so enter The CPAP Machine.

Last night was my second using this marvelous device and it seems to be doing the trick. My “score” is already down from that awful 40+ “stops and starts” to just three, a simply ridiculous improvement. And whilst I still struggle with putting my mind in neutral before bed, I can already tell that this going to be a vast help to me, despite the fact that the gear itself makes me look like villain Bane from The Dark Knight Rises (minus to cool voice and impressive physique).

So with a deep, pleasant breath from a man well rested after many years without, here’s some more (US) morning mellow.

As always, my ears are open for new, chill sounds. If you create downtempo, ambient, or chillout music that fits the Morning Mellow vibe, I'd be honored to give it a listen. Please send me your sounds at https://mtrec.link/MMSubs
