Intertwined Creatures: the Embodied Cognitive Science of Self and Other by Anthony Chemero

For a certain group of readers, my concern about treating cog- nition as dynamic and not as representational will remind them of the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze. For another, likely partially overlapping group, my insistence on the self as nec- essarily social will remind them of feminist political theory. At the same time, most cognitive scientists and philosophers of cognitive science will be unfamiliar with both. The purpose of this chapter is to explore the connections between intertwined self and certain figures in so-called continental philosophy and with some claims made by feminist philosophers and political theorists.

Συμμετέχοντας σε αυτόν τον αγώνα που είναι δικός τους (γνωρίζουν πολύ καλά τους στόχους του και οι ίδιοι καθορίζουν τις μεθόδους), αυτοί οι άνθρωποι εισάγονται στην επαναστατική διαδικασία – ως σύμμαχοι του προλεταριάτου, φυσικά, αφού η εξουσία ασκείται με τρόπο που διατηρεί την καπιταλιστική εκμετάλλευση. Αυτοί οι άνθρωποι υπηρετούν πραγματικά την προλεταριακή επανάσταση, αγωνιζόμενοι ακριβώς στο σημείο όπου υφίστανται την καταπίεση. Οι γυναίκες, οι φυλακισμένοι, οι στρατιώτες, οι ομοφυλόφιλοι, οι ασθενείς στα νοσοκομεία έχουν, αυτή τη στιγμή, ξεκινήσει ο καθένας έναν συγκεκριμένο αγώνα ενάντια στη συγκεκριμένη μορφή εξουσίας, περιορισμού και ελέγχου που ασκείται πάνω τους. Αυτού του είδους οι αγώνες ανήκουν στο επαναστατικό κίνημα σήμερα, υπό την προϋπόθεση πως είναι ριζοσπαστικοί, χωρίς συμβιβασμούς ή ρεφορμισμό, υπό την προϋπόθεση πως δεν προσπαθούν να αναπροσαρμόσουν την ίδια εξουσία μέσω, το πολύ, μιας αλλαγής ηγεσίας. Και τα κινήματα αυτά συνδέονται με το επαναστατικό κίνημα του ίδιου του προλεταριάτου, στο βαθμό που το προλεταριάτο πρέπει να πολεμήσει κάθε έλεγχο και περιορισμό που αποτελούν παντού τους αγωγούς της εξουσίας.
