Today I learned how dFdx and dFdy actually work in GLSL and it makes almost all of my multivariate calc defines in the quoted shader irrelevant!

Another texture secret: you can wrap a texture around organic shapes by interpreting the uv grid as a complex plane, applying a polynomial to the plane, and reinterpreting the the magnitude and phase of the original uv as the new uv!

A neat thing about the Sakura pattern is that it's a self-similar fractal like the Sierpiński Gasket, and the base shape is similar to a quadratic Koch Snowflake (I call them flowers for this pattern), and yet I've never seen this pattern mentioned anywhere before!
