For those curious how the partial devocalization years before I got her makes Govita sound, this is a sample recording. Notice her mouth as she turns around. This is the discomfort caused by damage to her vocal cords. It needs to be universally prohibited. ❤️🐾 #dogs #poodles #devocalization

Thankfully, #devocalization is prohibited in some states, including ours. The root cause of excess barking needs to be addressed with positive force-free training & in some cases the dog simply needs a different family or home situation. I am so careful with Govita, her food mix, etc.

Govita was almost 6 years old when she came into my life. Tomorrow is her 5 year Happy Gotcha Day. She endured partial #devocalization in her prior life. I exercise special care with her & worry when any procedure such as her recent dental surgery requires anesthesia due to increased risks.
