Because of Ratatoskr's soul, Valfreyja's body doesn't require food as often as normal humans. It was only after coming to live in Ishgard after the Dragonsong War that Valfreyja began to enjoy and savour food as a way to bond with others, rather than a mere biological necessity.

Valfreyja does actually know how to sew! At least, enough for small garment repairs. The memories of obtaining these skills were lost along with all the rest when she was taken by the heretics as a child, but even as an adult now she retains some level of muscle memory for it.
