I am cringing my way through the first sex scene (if you can even call it that). It was difficult when I read the manhwa and, for a moment, I thought the novel would be easier. Nope. I'm just screaming internally for to be over and it really hasn't started yet. 🫠

"Wholly unaroused hunk of flesh." is certainly one way of putting it. I don't how more explicitly it can be said that Tristan is not a willing participant in any of this. He couldn't be more unaroused even if he tried.

I have reached chapter 8 of Ebony Castle. I remember a lot of this from the manhwa. So it's not really new to me. There is a lot more detail obviously. It is written beautifully so far. I love the imagery.

As I'm reading the novel, I am baffled by how the severity of Dohwa's condition is downplayed. "Oh, you're not dying? Then you're fine." Meanwhile, Dohwa is skin and bones, already lost most of the use of his left leg, and his hands are barely functioning.

I'm finally reading novel for Ebony Castle. I'm SO ready for the angst and the emotional coaster after having read the manhwa. The story really deviates from what I normally think of when I think of nameverse. It's not fluffy at all. It's the worst case scenario.
