It’s not quite winter, not quite spring. Welcome to VT! And in Essex Jct, that's also the stretch run before voters have their say.
Re: what's on the ballot, Brad Luck, and moving EWSD votes to March, check out what the EJCC was up to in March:

As always, these are my views, and not necessarily the opinions of the City nor Council.

That said, given taxes are due next week:
The next tax deadline is March 16, 2026. To be safe:
1. Drop your payment off in person
2. Use the drop box at 2 Lincoln St
3. Mail it at a post office counter and get a hand-stamped postmark

A little background and history about Article 6 on your Essex Jct April ballot.
Article 6 would require tax payments to arrive, not be postmarked, by the due date. I voted against putting it on the ballot, and I'm voting 'no' in April.

Brian Shelden on Town Meeting TV at a Jan 26 EJCC Meeting
View from my Seat - Jan 26
The snow keeps coming—please stay safe out there. Kudos to EJPW for keeping our sidewalks and streets clear, even as many VT towns are running low on salt
Jan was largely about continued budget planning and deciding what will go on the April ballot

View from my Council Seat – Dec 2025
The Council was busy in Dec, mostly with budget planning for the next fiscal year. Here's a quick summary of what we were up to in December

Some folks have asked why all of our water bills have gone up recently. The City's response is below.
If you have any questions, please call (802) 878-6944 x6, or email utility@essexjunction.org.

I understand that any increase in household expenses is unwelcome. I truly appreciate residents' understanding and cooperation as we work to keep Essex Jct's water system reliable, safe, and up to the standards our community expects.

Starting this month, I’ll be holding regular public office hours so I can hear directly from you.
Whether you have questions, concerns, or ideas, stop by and let’s talk! Your voice matters, and I’m here to listen.
Let’s build a stronger community together.

This week, the Essex Junction City Council held its first (ever?) retreat. One of the most important things we discussed was how to better connect with you: the voters of Essex Junction.
#officehours #ejcc #ejpoli #vtpoli 1/2
I also want to say thank you to Bethany Clark to stepping up, working hard, and running a clean, positive race. I know you'll be back. 2/2

Tape from EJ election results Apr 8 2025
Thank you so much to the Essex Junction voters for trusting and believing in me. I am humbled and excited to get to work!
TY to all the volunteers that wrote postcards, honked and waved, knocked on doors, and donated time, money, and stamps. W/o you, none of this is possible.

Polls are open in Essex Junction until 7pm! Please come out and vote!
And don't forget some non-perishables for Heavenly Pantry.

Greg Morgan endorses Brian Shelden
Brian will serve us well because he is familiar with the way municipal government works, having served as Chair of the Essex Economic Development Commission.
Please consider joining me in voting for Brian

Lots of doors, lots of H&Ws leading up to Election Day. Thank you to all the volunteers for both
I've been working hard every day, here in Essex Junction, to get out my message of positivity & problem-solving. Let's work together to make EJ the best place to live, work and play.

Andrew Brown endorsement of Brian Shelden
I support Brian Shelden because he knows how complex the systems are that impact our quality and cost of life.
Brian will have a minimal learning curve as a City Councilor meaning we will be able to benefit from his time on the Council quicker.

Please tune in to WVMT tomorrow, Apr 1, and listen to my vision for Essex Junction!
If you have specific questions for me, please feel free to call in.
#vtpoli #ejpoli
This memory came up in my personal FB feed today.
Proud to have worked so hard to make Essex & Essex Junction better, even though we came a heartbreakingly few votes short.
Looking forward to continuing to help stand up the first new City in Vermont in over 100 years!
#vtpoli #ejpoli
Great day for a honk & wave! Thank you to all the volunteers, and to all the motorists who waved back!
Early voting opens again on Monday. So, feel free to park at EJFD and walk into Lincoln Hall and cast your ballot.
If not then, please vote for me on Apr 8th at the fairgrounds!

How do you think I did?

www.essexreporter.com/news/electio...
If you requested an absentee ballot, you can drop it off in a drop box out front. If you're local, I'd recommend dropping off that ballot at City Hall in the drop box, instead of mailing.
Your ballot has to *arrive* by election day to get counted.

If you're navigating, I recommend using 3 Pearl St instead of 2 Lincoln St.
It's also a challenge for walking. The fence on the Brownell side won't let you thru.
If you get stuck, I recommend walking around the building on the 5-corners side.

Map of 2 Lincoln St showing where to park during renovations
One thing that's different this year, is the parking.
Due to the renovations at City Hall, you have to park on the Pearl St / Fire Station side. If you're used to parking between the Brownell and the Fire Station, you can't.
Also, there's a fence.
