A picture of Ysayle Dangoulain from Final Fantasy XIV with my original character, Sonechko “Elis” Elisei. Elis is a Midlander Hyur with blond hair and is wearing Dravanian gear in dark red. His ears are covered by his hair. He has a large broadsword on his back. They are in the last location of the Snowcloak duty together. Elis’ body covers most of the view, but he is holding Ysayle’s hand up to his lips in a kiss. Ysayle is staring at him in slight shock, but does not pull away. She looks a bit pained for reasons unknown.
A picture of Ysayle Dangoulain from Final Fantasy XIV with my original character, Sonechko “Elis” Elisei. Elis is a Midlander Hyur with blond hair and is wearing Dravanian gear in dark red. His ears are covered by his hair. Most of his face is concealed by shadow, but he is smiling with his back against Ysayle’s, eyes looking toward her. They are in Saint Reymanaud’s Cathedral. Ysayle is nearest to the viewer, and she is also aiming her smile to Elis behind her.
Sonechko Elisei was born out of wedlock to a Hyuran mother and a noble Elezen father. Growing up in Ishgard, he was estranged from his father and raised by his mother. As a child, Elis aspired to become a seminarian of the church's Scholasticate, and was a rather devoted "church-boy" and follower of Halone. After one particularly bad instance of the ongoing war between man and dragon, Elis' father was accused of heresy due to an attempt of drinking wyrm blood and becoming what the man thought he shared with the creatures. Elisei's mother was falsely convicted due to her involvement with his father - Elis fled Ishgard and was forced to fend himself in the harsh lands of Coerthas for about a year before making it to Dravania. Here he stumbled upon juvenile wyverns and earned himself the scorch marks he bears on his face.
Elis blamed the dragons for his misfortune. For years on his own he came to condemn the creatures and the strong, wrongful place they had in his life. As a boy, Elis had heard stories of Anyx Trine. He'd always figured that man had a helping hand in building the wyrm sanctuary, due to the architecture and geographic coverage. At 19, three years after being forced to flee his home, he stumbled upon Vidofnir and hers. He'd stupidly wished to kill a dragon, an act of closure, but Vidofnir had, in her own polite little way, told Elis to leave and never dare come back. She'd offhandedly mentioned Elis being the second mortal she's met in the last few months (a rarity), which led Elis to seeking out life in Tailfeather. There he met Marcechamp, his hunters, and a rather reserved Duskwight named Ysayle who did not seem to be very fond of him.
ELISAYLE
Elis and Ysayle initially fall on the wrong foot with each other. Elis looks more like his mother than he does his father, but the shape of his ears are unmistakable. Ysayle wished to know more of him and his past in the face of friendliness, but Elis was nothing more than cynical and defensive upon first becoming Marcechamp's ward (who affectionately came to call him
"Sonny" - a play on the words son and sun, which Sonechko translates to).
One night after stumbling over each other, Ysayle confided to Elis about her visions after hearing of his dislike and fear of dragons. Ysayle's words shattered the faith he had clung onto for years as comfort, and rearranged all he thought he knew as a boy. Elis ended up renouncing his status as a follower of Halone, and instead heals his beliefs with Oschon, the Wanderer. They become incredibly close afterward, and both do not seem to realize the extent of their feelings for one another. When Ysayle embraces her image of Shiva and decides to leave Tailfeather to later become Lady Iceheart, Elis follows her as her guarding knight. Ysayle is rarely seen without him. This acts as reference to the fact that in Twelve lore, Oschon had Halone as a traveling companion.
When Ysayle is killed, Elis is present with the Warriors of Light in Azys Lla and was unable to help her due to being unaware of her plan. He falls into a state of shock and acts erratic, out of character, and begins to endanger himself in an effort of personal redemption. When Val and IInoux face Diabolos in the Void Ark/Mhach quests, Elis accompanies them. However, it soon became a realization that Elis had not been wishing for redemption after all, but rather for death. He allowed himself to be touched by a voidsent and became one himself. Sentient, but devoid of life and spirit.
