COLORADO STATEWIDE WALKOUT PROTESTING GUN VIOLENCE Why this protest is taking place: What are we protesting? According to NBC News and the Denver Post, on September 10th, a shooting took place at Evergreen High School at approximately 12:30 p.m., which injured three students (including the shooter). All students are reportedly in critical condition and have been taken to the hospital. No reasoning behind the shooting has been found. EDIT:One student is reported dead according to CBS news This is besides the fact that since the year 2000, there have been 1,188 school shootings, leading to the deaths of nearly 400 people and the injuries of more than 800. Also there has been 83 mass shootings since 2014 in Colorado ALONE. Causing 110 deaths and more than 300 injuries. The advocacy for stricter gun laws and to make our schools safer and more secure for students and faculty alike. Students shouldnt have to worry or even think of the possibility of being shot or worse, killed; especially in an area that is supposed to be a safe place to learn and build their education. And faculty shouldnt have to go to work with thoughts of the possibility of having to sacrifice themselves for the students they are supposed to be teaching and caring for. When and where: The statewide walkout will he commencing on Wednesday, September 17th 1:30pm. This is directed towards all and any students faculty in the state of Colorado.
