All great horned owls have a #facialdisc. This can be reddish, brown, or gray in color and is demarked by a dark rim culminating in bold, blackish side brackets. This species' "horns" are tufts of feathers, called #plumicorns. Pic Phil Leighton. #GreatHornedOwl
