VOICE ACTING CASTING CALL Star Trek Fan Audiodrama The Endgoal Submission Deadline: Monday, 20th April Submission Information: Please email whovianwriters2020@gmail.com with the character(s) you are auditioning for in the subject line. The audition consists of your recording of the provided audition line(s). *No monetary compensation. We do these for fun!* CONTENT WARNING This story deals with depictions of transphobia and verbal abuse. Synopsis: After Lieutenant Brianna Leads is harassed by a transphobic member of the Enterprise crew, Lieutenant Commander Data goes to Captain Picard to attempt to help her. Unfortunately, the young Lieutenant is afraid to divulge any information on the crew member in question, and Captain Picard will have to gain her trust in order to find out who wronged her. Lt. Brianna Leads Brianna Leads is a science officer on the USS Enterprise-D. Brianna is transgender. She is distrusting of cis people, and views Starfleet as a group that has never truly let go of underlying transphobic values, particularly after dealing with transphobic insults from a fellow officer. Female, accent open to interpretation * While we are accepting cisgendered actors’ auditions, we encourage Transfeminine actors to apply and will be prioritising those auditions for this role. (Trying to compose herself) “Oh- uh- Captain Picard. I’m so sorry, I’m a mess.” “Data, I asked you not to say anything.” “Will you just stop?!”
Jean Luc Picard Captain of the USS Enterprise-D. Picard is rigid in his devotion to Starfleet, but able to recognize when they’ve done wrong. When speaking to Leads, he is very gentle, but also a bit awkward because this is not a subject he has ever had to directly engage with. Received Pronunciation, as played by Patrick Stewart “I see. Because I am a cisgender man, you don’t trust me?” “Admiral Canasad, if I am to be quite frank, what you are saying is not only highly inappropriate in regards to the events that are transpiring, but generally as well. The Lieutenant is not lying about what has occurred, and I implore you to allow me to conduct an investigation!” Data Data is an Android, and thus sees things from a very logical, mostly non-emotionally inhibited viewpoint, and is very confused by the idea of transphobia and how it can exist. American male, flat affect, as played by Brent Spiner “Sir, may I accompany you to your quarters? I wish to speak to you in private.” “That is one of the details that has confused me. She told me that she felt bringing attention to the situation to that degree would only make things more difficult. I do not understand the logic.”
William T Riker First Officer of the USS Enterprise-D. Single line part. American male, as played by Jonathan Frakes “I think the Aledrans may have a bit of a tough time reintegrating into the ecosystem, but they’ll manage.” Wesley Crusher Young helmsman of the USS Enterprise-D. Only has two lines. American male, young, as played by Wil Wheaton “Where to next, Captain?” Admiral Canasad Dismissive asshole, representative of Starfleet. American male, probably smarmy “There was a break in my duties, it was no trouble. Now, what exactly is it that you need to speak with me about?” “This discussion is over, Picard. I will not permit you to investigate these baseless claims the supposed “victim” and the Android have made. (Pause) And Captain… if you ever speak to me like that again, I’ll make sure that you’ll never serve on another starship.” Lt. Andan Lets Engineer aboard the Enterprise, transphobic. The role does involve transphobic slurs. Open to interpretation “Don’t you get it, Leads. Who would believe a he who thinks he’s a she?”
