Gwen John, another of my favourite artists. She led a quiet life, often painting the same subjects over and over (as I do with bits of York...) &.modelled for the sculptor Rodin. It's a pity more of her super drawings haven't survived.

Another fave artist of mine, John Sell Cotman. The late 18th-19th century watercolour artist & etcher made several trips to the north of England. One of his pictures shows the ruined gatehouse of Kirkham Priory. I have been able to make my own study of this.
