Air Doll movie posters, 2009 . In Air Doll a blow-up sex doll comes to life, chooses to dress itself in a fetishished French maid costume, and goes out into the world to learn what it is to be human. Never forgets that it's still a sex doll. Adapted from a manga, Air Doll is a unusual film in that, while it draws its inspiration from kink tropes and has nudity and sex, it's not really salacious or even trying to be sexy. Often films that try to explore fetishes can come off as pandering or silly. Air Doll does something different. I've heard it described as a movie about loneliness and that's a very apt description. Don't watch it expecting fetish fodder or a happy ending.
