Does getting a reply motivate readers to comment more? Do they motivate writers to keep writing?

As a reader, it's mostly time nowadays. I just feel so "bleh" most days, like, I have time but no mental space to focus on reading 😭 I wanna read fics but my brain doesn't want to cooperate 🤣🤣 #ff_festachat

I write fanfic to spend more time with the characters obsess over and to expand their stories far beyond canon, my ideas usually last for years. And sometimes I write fanfic because canon desperately needs a fix. My first fanfic was a fix-it with an epic-length series of sequels. /1
