The cold words pierce her heart like a knife. “No” she admitted. “I don’t think there’s anyone here who can…” “I’m sure Mercedes—” “She’s a Bishop, not a doctor, Dimitri” she retorted. “Manuela will be here in a few days so I will just wait for her return” She was starting to feel irritated at his avoidance to her and thought that it would be better to leave him for now and just return when she has calmed down. “I saw wild barley scattered on the side of your room.” She stopped halfway when she heard his statement. Suddenly it all clicked. The last time they were together, weren’t they worried about her being pregnant? Surely if that was the case, she would have…but that didn’t make sense. Maybe she wasn’t pregnant after all. “It doesn’t matter now, doesn’t it? It’s been five years after all” “What really happened to you all these years? Tell the truth”
