He is wearing an ionar jacket embroidered with wings, clouds, and a crescent moon; his left sleeve is tied while the right hangs loosely. Under this he wears a dark colored liene with long open sleeves; the liene floats out behind him, fantastical in its length. The Ring of the Lucii, strung on a chain, hangs over his heart. He wears a sword belt and in it the sheath and hilt of the Sword of Light; his left hand grips the handle and the smallest sliver of light can be seen peaking through the gap between the top of the sheath and the hilt. He stands, expression amazed and fearful, in an otherworldly light, knee-deep in faery water. Several pools ripple out and overlap, most without color, their reflections inexact: ice, water, the moon, the past, the future.

An illustration for the fanfiction "Besmirched." The main central scene shows Gladiolus and Noctis standing on a beach and reaching for each other's hand. Before them, in the blue distance, is the Forbidden Island of Angelgard and the full moon casts a light that seems to make a path to it. From beyond the borders of the piece, Shiva's icy hand holds a ring between her thumb and forefinger which frames the moon in the scene. There is a border which is filled mostly with the body of a serpent, twisted in knots; the serpent nearly reaches its own tail except that the Oracle's Trident divides it with an over-sized Ring of the Lucii looped around its center. At the top of the border where Shiva's hand is, are two stylized dogs, one light and one dark; Shiva obscures most of the light dog while the dark one, Umbra, can be seen clearly. Between the two dogs is the wooden tablet used in the story to deliver messages. There is a layer of frost where Shiva's hand passes over the body of the serpent.
