Springtime Shimmering of Aspens Under Blue Skies (Mesa Verde National Park) While at the Far View Terrace Café / Gift Shop with a view looking up and to the northwest as some aspens with the leaves shimmering in a passing breeze. Almost like a heaven for me! In composing the image, I attempted to align myself the trees, while keeping a backdrop of blue skies to highlight them. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 7. I then exported a TIFF image to Nik Color Efex Pro 4 where I added a Polarization and Foliage filter for that last effect on the image captured.

Trees at Cedar Ridge and a Grand Canyon Backdrop (Grand Canyon National Park) I captured this image while walking around and exploring the Cedar Ridge area along the South Kaibab Trail. The setting extends to the west to some nearby Utah Junipers. What drew me into this setting was the old American West feel. There was the red-orange color to the ground, the twisted and gnarled trunks with the Utah Junipers, and then the canyon cliffs along the Rim Trail as a backdrop. I moved around until I found a grouping of trees that seemed pleasing to the eye for this image composition.

Tune Into Experiencing Life in Gooseberry Falls State Park Along the riverbanks of the Gooseberry River in the namesake state park with a view extending to the southwest. The river is flowing downstream with Lake Superior about 2/3 of a mile away. In composing this image, I chose to get down low and capture a look across the waters. I angled my Nikon slightly downward to raise the horizon and minimize what I felt was the more negative space of the overcast skies while also having the forest and trees fill the upper portion of the image to give a feeling of it being all around.

Spectacular Overlooks at Ooh Aah Point! (Grand Canyon National Park) A setting extending to the north while taking in views at Ooh Aah Point to eroded formations, buttes, and temples present along the South Kaibab Trail in Grand Canyon National Park. I chose to angle my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward to raise the horizon and create more of a sweeping view across the national park landscape. I also wanted to include some nearby foreground to add to the setting.
