An 80s-obsessed kid from a remote Scottish island with a penchant for sampling and house music collects his works onto, to date, his only album. Entertaining enough, but hardly broke the old-song-sampling dance zeitgeist.

Between albums with Goodie Mob and future project Gnarls Barkley, some decent solo albums appeared. This, his second, is a good collection of rap, soul and funk, and shows he is equally skilled singing and rapping.

The early 00s brought a new generation of folk. Neo-folk, psych-folk, freak folk, whatever you want to call it, but Devendra was at the forefront. Sparsely recorded, with deft fingerpicking and a Donovan-esque warble, this is a great third album.
