Expanding Horizon Europe’s Pillar III is very welcome, but researchers and universities are absent from this part of the Commission’s #FP10 proposal.
🏛️ Universities should be explicitly recognised and included as participants.

Text "The programme's fundamentals: Horizon Europe remains a stand-alone programme. Unclear boundaries with the European Competitiveness Fund threaten Horizon's independence and integrity. Budget proposal points in the right direction, but falls short of what is really needed. Approach to dual-use research remains unclear."
The Commission’s proposal of €175 billion for #FP10 is encouraging: it must serve as a baseline in upcoming negotiations. Anything below €175 billion would be a missed opportunity for Europe’s competitiveness, prosperity and resilience

On #WorldTBDay:
TB remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases — despite being preventable and curable.
As #FP10 is negotiated, the EU must invest in tackling TB and other neglected diseases.
Europe is at growing risk.

#HorizonEurope must remain focused on excellent research, including collaborative research. It should not be repurposed as a tool to deliver industrial or short-term political objectives.

To continue to drive excellent research, the ERC must be safeguarded from political steering. While the Commission’s proposal to expand the ERC is welcome, proposed changes like the reduction of the President’s term are concerning.

Collaborative research 🤝 is one of #HorizonEU’s key strengths. The Commission's proposal rightly protects the bottom-up nature of @erc.europa.eu, #MSCAactions and the #EUeic’s #EICPathfinder and Transition schemes.

Framework Programme #FP10 should as be open as possible & as closed as necessary.
We need to define:
- association criteria more clearly, reflecting geopolitical context & values
- appropriate mechanisms to respond
- min. 🇪🇺 standards for research security & risk assessment
